A night of fire duds

To give you some backstory, we arrived at Sydney on the morning of the 4th of December and on the night of the eighth of December a fire alarm went off.At first we thought it might of not been our building, and it was three AM so we didn't want to move. We evacuated the building anyway and just when we were heading out the doors the building started shouting "EVACUATE THE BUILDING IMMEDIATLEY."

We hated the alarm because It was 3 AM in the morning, There was nowhere to evacuate to so we stayed right outside the door waiting for the fire brigade.Finaly someone came and explained that the building wasn't connected to the fire brigade station, so he called them. The fire brigade came and two of them went in to the building when they came out they said there were no fires just a malfunctioning fire alarm.

Everyone went inside and went back to there rooms. There was another fire alarm and nobody bothered to evacuate everyone just called the firemen. There was a third fire and even more people called 000 this time the firemen came again and after that it was a more peaceful night.

Terror of the Dark

Once upon a time there was darkness in the world, and the world was ruled by the Dark Lord. Demons and trolls roamed the land until Altan slayed the Dark Lord, and the trolls and demons fled to a still corrupted land to the northeast. Altan made the world fair and just.

It had been 20 years since then and I still remembered the story of Altan freeing the world of darkness. I stared at my old willow tree blankly, tomorrow knighthood.

It was early when I got to the church with a mixture of nervous and excited feelings. I waited an hour, then two hours, then three hours, and finally on the fourth hour the kind turned up with a sword.

The King said, "I dub thou Sir Kaliam, and let this be the last blow you take."

Cheers erupted from the crowd.

I stood up, and left the building, proud.

I found my friends at a bar ordering drinks for themselves. The way I got them to notice me was that after they ordered the drinks I said, "and a brandy for me."

I got up on a stool at the bar and said, "I've been dubbed."

Alauner asked, "how did it go?"

Alauner was an elf with green hair, green eyes and a bow and two daggers.Alauner was brave strong and         confident.

"It went well," I said, "but what's that got to do with the price of bread?"

The barkeep brought our drinks over and we made conversation about nothing in particular.

We parted ways when it was getting late and I asked myself the question I asked every night. "What would tomorrow bring?"

My answer, "wait until dawn."

I woke up the next morning to look out the window and see a scorpion on a tree. Then I remembered my mother's words. "The dark lord's symbol is the scorpion."

This wasn't good. The symbol of the dark lord, right outside my window. Then I saw a small red thing suddenly crash against my window. I grabbed my sword and stabbed the red thing. The fiery blood dripped out of the window, eating away at the road.

I put my armour on hastily and ran outside. Demons covered the streets. So I rode to Alauner's house. He was there firing from the windows. I ran inside Alauner's house and ran up to Alauner.

Then I saw a huge green thing stomping down the street.

A troll.

The troll moved slowly, stomping down the street.

I ran down the stairs and spoke to the troll, "You have much strength and anger but I have much fairness and justice."

The troll just let out a roar and smashed the road next to me.

"You see knight, you do not have enough power to smash the road next to me." said the troll.

"You're right." I said, "but I do have enough power to shoot an arrow through your green, stupid, ignorant head."

"What!" the troll said, "You don't have a bo-."

Alauner shot him. The troll's body fell onto the demons, buying us some time.

Alauner and I ran down the now-crumbly street to the town hall where the mayor was supposed to be giving a speech. We ran inside the roof. Boards were showing signs of strain. The room was blackened and we found no sign of the mayor.

All we found were a few roast eyeballs scattered around.

The roof began to fall apart and Alauner and I sprinted towards the doors. Suddenly a woman appeared int eh doorway and made a motion as if holding up something heavy. The town hall stopped falling down and Alauner and I ran out of the building panting.

The woman said, " I am Casamar".

Casamar was human with brown hair and blue eyes, she had a mage's staff and was quite confident.

I said, "you're a witch."

Casamar said, "I am a mage."

The three of us ran to the stables where we each borrowed a griffin. I named my griffin Blaze.

The three of us set off in the direction of the shortcut pass. The shortcut pass was the best way to get to the dark lord's castle and we needed to get there before the dark lord's minions did not destroy the world.

We flew on taking turns to rest on the warm mane of our griffins. About halfway to the shortcut pass we were all tired. We flew down onto a protected ledge and set up some tents. I tunneled into the weak clay and made myself a room to sleep in for the night. My room had shelves, a place to sleep in and a tunnel leading to another room to do my,Err business.

We made ourselves at home and slept soundly that night.

I woke up at the first peek of dawn and looked out of my cave. I saw Alauner and Casamar nibbling on some scraps of pork. I told them I was awake and we zoomed off into the sky on Blaze Staed (pronounced Staad) and Lucko.

I started to see a faint scar on the landscape about halfway to the horizon. The shortcut pass. We sped up after seeing the shortcut pass. It was satisfying to see what we came for. I felt happy like I had just had my favourite food, pizza!

But then a purple flash of light caught my eye and we circled around a strange black marble altar and suddenly a person appeared in the middle but only for a second like a hologram. He appeared again, solid this time, he looked like the Dark Lord in the paintings so we flew away.

We rode the winds towards the shortcut pass, I could now make out the details of the shortcut pass now dried up rivers, black charred ground. Not the nicest way to travel.

Then I made out a huge pile of boulders blocking the pass. We decided to fly to the dark lord's lair. Instead of using the shortcut pass.

We soared under the clouds above us like giant pieces of black candy floss. We found a grove which was blackened and decided to make camp there. We dug ourselves our own burrows with just enough space for one of us to sleep in.

The night passed. We flew to the dark lord's castle. I could see it on the horizon. The black walls of obsidian in one sole piece of architecture, and as we got closer I could see scorpion banners and wolf banners, wait a minute, the wolf was the symbol of the kingdom we just came from. The wolf banners were lying on the ground old faded and ripped as if the dark lord felt that way about the kingdom.Which he probably did.

We landed just outside that horrifying black gate and I shouted, "Dark lord come forth and face us, we are no weaklings."

Twelve soldiers came out of the gate including the dark lord and behind him Maleith, the mayor, on a horse.

"Maleith" I shouted at him. "We looked all over for you in the town hall and you betray us."
No responce except a battle cry.

That was when the fight started. Casamar summoned a fireball and defeated three enemy soldiers. Alauner shot Maleith in the heart but Casamar got stabbed to death by the troops, I felt sorry for her but there was no time to mourn. Alauner shot the remaining troops but he ran out of arrows. The Dark Lord ran him through and it was one-to-one. the dark lord charged and pinned me to the ground and raised his sword.

I said calmly "If I die, you come with me."

We stabbed each other at the same time.

Amazon trouble

I tramped through the jungle, tripping and falling in my oversized black boots, using my bamboo stick as a machete. I regretted what I had done, following a jaguar off into the jungle to get pictures; silly of me.

I felt bad and lost, I didn't know how to make a weapon, a shelter, or any kind of boat. I found a furry brown tail under a bunch of ferns, picked I tup and decided to use it as a whip.

Then I heard a lot of noise getting louder and louder until a bunch of dangerous animals burst out of a bush. So I said, "hello, dangerous animals", swinging the tail around above my head, then flung the tail away, relieved.

I climbed up a tree and thought about my time line and how I needed to get back to the city to do a masters degree in biology. I must have fallen asleep because when I woke up I found several Pygmy monkeys using me as a couch. I grabbed one of them and ripped it open, the blood made such a horrible stain that I cannot use that shirt to this day.

Just then I heard my group shouting my name so I ran towards them shouting.

I rushed through the undergrowth, plants brushing against me, feathery leaves full of water shaking about as I ran.

After an hour my legs felt like jelly, so I sat down on a log and kept shouting. I waited and waited and waited and waited...

There was a loud rustling sound and my group burst out of a bush. I told them what had happened, and they told me their side of the story. My group took me back to the lodge and I collapsed on my bed, relieved.

ZI (zombie invasion)

"Brains!" I heard the growl of a zombie and it startled me so much I nearly knocked a chair over! I grabbed my double pistols and shot the zombie outside, killing it.

I figured that my house was not the safest place, so I headed outside just to find that the zombie army was marching down my street. About half of the zombies headed towards me, so I shot 11 of them with the ammo I had left. Then I ran back inside my house and desperately crawled to my bedroom where I found my buckler and light sword.

I realized that I hadn't shut the door and when I turned around there were eleven zombies there waiting for me. I charged down the stairs hitting them until their heads fell off.

I ran outside, checked the coast was clear, then ducked into an alley. I heard the sounds of whimpering victims inside. I accidentally scraped my shield against a piece of flint causing a spark to rise and melt some glass which my clothing soaked up.

I heard the scuffings and scrapings of lost cats and dogs. The "drip drip drip" of a broken water pipe was spooky, it was like the whole of New York was abandoned!

I heard some faint voices from ahead, I broke into a run and I found some police members in black bulletproof suits.

One of them spotted me and said, "there are no more zombies".

Around the world again

The reason I want to have another year of traveling is because I want to go to Japan, Africa, Greece, India and Warwick. There will be new computer games coming out and more time to play them. I want to spend 4 weeks back in Australia to have Christmas and to see my friends again.

I will show my friends my collection of stuff which I found over the year I've been away. For those of you who are reading this that are my friends I've been missing you.

The scrolls of Alebelden

Aidan rushed to his bed, put the scrolls down and hurriedly untied the knots. Aidan eagerly opened up the scrolls to reveal pages of tiny writing. He started to read.

King Brow was a wise powerful and kind man, but he did not use his wisdom to destroy, his power to invade or his kindness to trick. King Brow used everything he had for good.

One day, when King Brow was wandering around the mountains of feast, glory and valour, he found a unicorn with white wings and called it Paegathus in runes. This meant the flying unicorn.

King Brow rode his unicorn all around Meeaar al eamer (the palace place) finding thousands of first born. But his favourite first borns would always be the first born hydra, Paegathus and the first born dragon.

Because all the other firstborn knew this they revolted. There were battles in the sky, land and sea but eventually King Brow and his allies were forced into making a castle out of pure adorite, the strongest stone ever.

King Brow named the city, "Albeden". In Albeden four races developed; dragons, hydras, humans and unicorns. Over time the dragons and the hydras went back to their domains of the sky and the sea.

Other kingdoms started to arrive into existence like Guardland, Snowland and Sandland.

King Brow decided to make alliances with each of these kingdoms to retain peace within the Palace Place.

To defy any evil force in the Palace Place, King Brow trained an elite guard which could defeat anything evil, just nothing good.

And so the Palace Place lived on until the end of time.

Aidan looked up from the scrolls and ran downstairs to tell his parents about the greatest discovery in his life.

Man overboard near Volcano Isle

Chapter One
Kasplash!

The Alexandria crashed into the roaring waves causing me to sway on the deck.

The captain shouted, "Jim! Hold onto something!"

So I jumped onto the rigging. Just in time too because a monster wave crashed into the Alexandria splattering my face with salty sea water and nearly knocking me off my perch.

I was only just holding on with my aching arms so I dropped off and sprinted towards the trap door leading to the cabins. But a monster wave swept me off deck. The last thing I heard was the loud but distant shout of "JIIIIIMMMMMMM!!!"

Chapter Two
Groggy waters

When I woke up I swam to the surface and looked around. Not a ship in sight. So I checked my compass; broken. I swam forward, my now salty brown hair irritating my blue eyes and my face as I swam. I swam for twelve hours until I finally washed up on a hot black beach. I looked about me feeling desperate for food and water. I ran across the beach peering into every little crack or crevasse I could find, but each on had the same black sand.

Then I started to hear some faint shouts from the other side of the island.

"JIM!" they said. I ran towards the shouts, getting closer and closer, until I started to see the ship. I got to the camp and found my crewmates covering me with food, drink and questions like, "Are you OK? Are you thirsty?" and "Are you hungry?".

To all these I answered, "Yes", and ate my fill.

We sailed home with adventures, stories and legends.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows pros and cons

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows is a good movie except it doesn't follow the book's storyline (I think that the storyline will be a bit confusing to people who haven't read the book). The movie is about three hours long yet the book takes about a month to read. The good thing about the movie is it puts in all these new scenes like Neville taking down half of Voldemort's army and destroying Hogwart's bridge.

But I think that the best part was when Harry Potter went against Voldemort in a wizard lightning battle or as you might call it a duel. There was red and green light, there was rubble and there were wands flying.

If you want to know more read the book or watch the movie. I rate it five stars.

Escape

There was a loud "ching" of swords, as the two Englishmen fought; one was named John and the other was named Robin.

Robin charged forward, nearly piercing John's chest, but John leapt out of the way saving every part of his body, except a flake of skin. Using the charge that Robin had made, John stabbed him in the back.

John held up his bloodstained sword, showing victory. He walked through the gates of the arena, feeling both relieved and sad. Sad for the person he had killed, and relieved that he hadn't died himself.

John was a brown-haired blue-eyed tall person. He had palish skin and was very strong.

He talked to all the gladiators about freedom and rebellion as he passed them. Most of them agreed to rebel against the Romans in Warwickus the next day.

So the next day, John and his group of gladiators formed a triangle and charged out of Warwickus, trying to find a forest where they could camp.

Finally, after five hours they found a clump of trees where they could camp. They tore the trees down and made a suitable wall for their camp.

The next day they found a village which gave every single one of them horses. They rode further, cutting down wheat and hay as they went.

They cut down trees for another camp and rationed their food out. At the crack of dawn they set off further for Scotland.

It was a twenty mile ride to Scotland from Warwickus, and they needed to get there quickly. Finally after five days travel they crossed the border of Scotland and started riding to the capital Palacemare, to address the King.

They marched in the direction of Palacemare. When they got there they addressed the King, and told him of the travels, the battles and the planning which they had needed to get there.

The King refused to let them in.

With that, a mixture of all the feelings in the world settled in to John. But mostly, he was worried.

"Where will we go?" asked John.

"Pictland, I guess." answered the King.

So John and his group got out of the palace and journeyed to Pictland. When they got there they were accepted by the grateful and rich King, who made them generals and ministers.

They had escaped from the Roman Empire.

The river poem

The river is wide and deep.
Through the countryside it does seep.

On the sides are plants and trees.
And in the river you will find reeds.

The river does flow.
But it does so very slow.

The river is a colour of murky brown.
Reflecting the image of the town.

The water does sooth.
And it looks very smooth.

The fish like to hide under a mat of flower.
There they also like to cower.

Troglodyte caves

The dordogne troglodyte caves are a magnificent sight, with a lookout tower at the front in control of the drawbridge, where the defenders would throw rocks wood and other projectiles.

When you entered the actual place, there was a wooden frame of a house which was about one meter in width and five meters in length.

Then we entered a cave with twelve rings which used to be used for a cow shed. The cave was a semicircle cut into the rock.

But I think the most interesting part was the defenses and cranes. First the cranes, the first crane worked in the exact same principle as a lift, lifting one barrel up as the weight and one barrel down as the counterweight.

The second crane was a human hamster wheel running in a certain way to pull things either up or down.

The defenses were made up of a huge crossbow, five cannons and one trebuchet. To operate a cannon you simply put the cannonball in, plug your ears and light the fuse. When operating a trebuchet you load it, get four people to pull on the on the back and you will have some rocks flying.

I wonder how you could penetrate the defenses, oh maybe ring the doorbell.

The Riddling Monk

"What? The dragon eggs have been stolen!" shouted Tugawuka.

"But by whom. That is the question." said Wellington (who was influenced by Shakespeare).

"I know." suggested Cleopatra. "We can ask Osiris."

"Osiris is just a fictional god." said Napoleon.

"The only real god is Jesus Christ!" shouted Cortez.

"God doesn't exist." argued Leonardo da Vinci.

"Quiet. I didn't take you into the future for you to argue like teenagers." scolded Einstein. Tugawuka put up a hand. "Yes, Tugawuka?" asked Einstein.

"I have heard about an ancient Japanese legend." (At this, Einstein snorted in laughter) "of the riddling monk, who gives a riddle that leads to the answer to the question you ask."

"To the airships!" shouted Leonardo.

"Yes. To the airships." agreed Einstein.

After three long weeks of arguing about Gods, everyone was relieved to see the riddling monk pop his head out of the bushes and say, "catastrophe, Orleans, rightful, tiny, earring snake."

"The dragon eggs," began Cleopatra, but the riddling monk cut her off.

"Told you," he sang. It was getting dark.

Finally, Einstein burst out with the words, "I've got it, it's an acrostic! Cortes, hand them over." Cortes looked side to side, shivered, and then ran into the darkness.

Accident in the canoe

Yesterday I went canoeing on the river Orbe and had an accident. Jennifer and I went down a foaming white rapid which had a big, flat rock down the end.
Evan and Callum just zipped by, but no we had to be the unlucky ones who hit the rock full on, tumbled out of the canoe while it peacefully floated away.
Evan and Callum caught the canoe and pulled them both on to dry land. I panicked and Jennifer swam me back to shore.
After that incident you could find me very nervous before each rapid.

In the next rapid Evan and Callum were really, really stuck. They had managed to get themselves in to a position where the front of the canoe was wedged in a triangle of rocks same for the back. The canoe was also leaning. Eventually they managed to get themselves out of the position and keep canoeing.

The gorge that we were in was a beautiful green with mountains and hills covered in forest and fabulous stone beaches that were perfect for lunch (and a bite of chocolate). There was even the rare fish that could be from the length of a finger to the length of a tire.

Ingame

"This game is too easy", Max said, as he shot the last bug on space invaders. Then, his mum came in and said it was five minutes till bed. She was a tall, blonde-haired, blue-eyed woman, nothing like the dark haired, dark-eyed and sleek boy in front of her.

Then, when she had left the room, he felt himself whizzing.

He had gone into the computer game.

He was in a spaceship, shooting at the terrifying bugs before him, he needed to escape. NOW!!

The bugs were shooting back now. One of the laser bullets hit him. He only had two lives left. He needed help. He would die if he did not have help. He needed help! Then his mind clicked back to reality when a bullet hit him.

Then, a clown in a bowler hat appeared and said, "I can get you out."
"How?" Max asked automatically.
The clown said, "It doesn't matter. Quickly!"

He lunged himself at the clown, and just as he lost his last life he returned home. Then he got on his pyjamas and went to bed and to sleep.

The wyverns attack

"Faster", shouted the Captain at Max, who was tired, starved and dehydrated. "You are a courageous, healthy, strong and agile man. Make use of that. Forward march!"

The small group had been travelling from Rome for two weeks. They were nearly at a settlement to the north named Manarola. The were going to help the little settlement defend against the wyverns, which troubled the villagers of every settlement in the area of the mountains of Roar.

Now Max could see some stone buildings and what looked like a breakwater covered in moss. Then the captain called the order to move faster.

It was nearly dusk now and they needed to get to Manarola quickly before the wyverns came.

The wyverns were like huge dragons, which were dull brown, and were carnivores. They were very sleek with spikes on their wings. Already the shadows of the surrounding hills were beginning to loom.

Then there was the suffocated cry of a wyvern and now Max could see bright scarlet fire on one of the buildings. He could see more wyverns coming.

The Captain shouted, "guns ready!". Giovanni shot leaving a whirl of smoke disappearing into the wind. A wyvern fell from the already choatic sky. The group ran shooting, not caring if what they were hurting was friend or foe. When they got there, they joined the circle of defenders and helped them.

They had finally reached their destination.

Sancerre

Napoleon made Sancerre the centre of government in its area. Napoleon was the emperor of france until the battle of waterloo. It seems that everywhere has something to tell about Napoleon Bonaparte. Acco which was a city which met Napoleon and defeated him.

The walls of sancerre

Sancerre walls were brought down after the people rebelled and after 265 days of famine they surrendered and the walls were brought down.

Sunday, March 20, 2011

The house I am staying in is in France. It was first owned by the prince's doctor and then after the walls of sancerre were brought down a Scottish family lived here and the father in that family was the king's personal bodyguard. Next it passed to a bank until it was sold to a language school and that is exactly what we're doing now.

Templars in Akko

Mr Land asked what was secret about the secret Templars in Akko. So I thought I'd put the answer on my blog.

In the castle of Akko, where the crusaders had a very good foothold, the tunnels had moss, thin walls, and low ceilings. It was an escape route to get from the middle of the castle to the outside. The tunnels were secret so the enemy couldn't take advantage of them.

These days, you don't get to see much of the castle, since most of it has wooden planks over it because the archeologists want to preserve it. But what we saw was very well preserved and was a great place for hide and seek and chasing Evan.

The ruins actually were from Greeks, then the Romans, then the Crusaders. But you think of the ruins as Crusader ruins for two reasons. One, those ruins are at the top, and two, that's where all the actual buildings are.

And lastly the tavern where you hire the characters.

Legoland

IN Legoland, there is a Lego model of Berlin, which has the Berlin Wall being knocked down. There is even a car that crashed into the Wall trying to get it down. On the second floor, there's pirates and pirate boats. You can steer and crash with these. On the third floor, there's dragons. There's a ride which goes round a curve and then down, round another curve, up, and then that's the end. But... when you go up, there are two dragon bits, one the tail, next the head.

And down the bottom floor there's a cafe and a playground. I made some friends there. They were called Sam and Sebastian.

Cortes

Cortes invaded Mexico at 1521 AD. He wanted gold and he also wanted the king. So at 1519 he set out for Mexico and stole some ships from Cuba. When he got there the governor at Cuba sent out a force to arrest him. The force contained one thousand conquistadors, but when they got there they were bribed by Cortes and they joined him. He pretended that he wanted to make allies but he actually killed them all! One the way he killed the leader of the Cuban army and as an amazing feat he and 10,000 men carried timber to build ships.

When he got there he built the ships and killed the men in the Mexican canoes, but what happened afterwards was that the total force of the aztecs hit them and killed alot of men but some of the Aztecs survived and about a week later the force of Cortese's army got hit by rocks and stones. Cortese's army withdrew and later conquered the city and leaving some other cities remaining he returned to Spain where he was greeted with a heroes welcome by a grateful king. But there are still no public statues of him!

Rating science museums

The day before yesterday we went to the science museum in Warsaw.(We always have to go to the science museums that are within 500 kilometres radius). There's only one that doesn't obey the law the Egyptian science museum we never went to that one. But there's probably those of you who have. This is my rating of the science museum (especially at 10.00 to 04.00. (There are crowds at this time)
******=6.

PRISON

Today we visited the prison where more than a hundred prisoners escaped. They heard women's voices and they worked out that it was the hot baths and blew up the wall. Exactly 41 Jews and 216 Muslims escaped. But unfortunately the Muslims (because they didn't like the Jews) blocked up the market with chairs. Not all the Jews escaped.

Crusaders in Akko

The crusaders came at eleven century AD taking Akko. Was tricky because of the light cavalry that the Egyptians owned. But when they took Akko the crusaders moved on to Jerusalem but the only thing they achieved was dead knights and eventually Richard signed a treaty saying that Christians could visit Jerusalem, but the could not stay.
We are in Aco and their are even more mean parents. Aco is the only intact crusader city!

Were in Israel now and the parents are being even more mean!

So far we have been to the time elevator , Israel museum, Israel science museum and the holy sepulcher . All the work involved was tiring restless work, but me and Callum managed. It's clear enough that our parents are being mean.

Petra high sacrificial place

Today we went to Petra and the high place where they think that humans were sacrificed. It was cold and a long way up. I recommend the sacrificial high place. Which is what they actually call it!
