Once upon a time there was darkness in the world, and the world was ruled by the Dark Lord. Demons and trolls roamed the land until Altan slayed the Dark Lord, and the trolls and demons fled to a still corrupted land to the northeast. Altan made the world fair and just.
It had been 20 years since then and I still remembered the story of Altan freeing the world of darkness. I stared at my old willow tree blankly, tomorrow knighthood.
It was early when I got to the church with a mixture of nervous and excited feelings. I waited an hour, then two hours, then three hours, and finally on the fourth hour the kind turned up with a sword.
The King said, "I dub thou Sir Kaliam, and let this be the last blow you take."
Cheers erupted from the crowd.
I stood up, and left the building, proud.
I found my friends at a bar ordering drinks for themselves. The way I got them to notice me was that after they ordered the drinks I said, "and a brandy for me."
I got up on a stool at the bar and said, "I've been dubbed."
Alauner asked, "how did it go?"
Alauner was an elf with green hair, green eyes and a bow and two daggers.Alauner was brave strong and confident.
"It went well," I said, "but what's that got to do with the price of bread?"
The barkeep brought our drinks over and we made conversation about nothing in particular.
We parted ways when it was getting late and I asked myself the question I asked every night. "What would tomorrow bring?"
My answer, "wait until dawn."
I woke up the next morning to look out the window and see a scorpion on a tree. Then I remembered my mother's words. "The dark lord's symbol is the scorpion."
This wasn't good. The symbol of the dark lord, right outside my window. Then I saw a small red thing suddenly crash against my window. I grabbed my sword and stabbed the red thing. The fiery blood dripped out of the window, eating away at the road.
I put my armour on hastily and ran outside. Demons covered the streets. So I rode to Alauner's house. He was there firing from the windows. I ran inside Alauner's house and ran up to Alauner.
Then I saw a huge green thing stomping down the street.
A troll.
The troll moved slowly, stomping down the street.
I ran down the stairs and spoke to the troll, "You have much strength and anger but I have much fairness and justice."
The troll just let out a roar and smashed the road next to me.
"You see knight, you do not have enough power to smash the road next to me." said the troll.
"You're right." I said, "but I do have enough power to shoot an arrow through your green, stupid, ignorant head."
"What!" the troll said, "You don't have a bo-."
Alauner shot him. The troll's body fell onto the demons, buying us some time.
Alauner and I ran down the now-crumbly street to the town hall where the mayor was supposed to be giving a speech. We ran inside the roof. Boards were showing signs of strain. The room was blackened and we found no sign of the mayor.
All we found were a few roast eyeballs scattered around.
The roof began to fall apart and Alauner and I sprinted towards the doors. Suddenly a woman appeared int eh doorway and made a motion as if holding up something heavy. The town hall stopped falling down and Alauner and I ran out of the building panting.
The woman said, " I am Casamar".
Casamar was human with brown hair and blue eyes, she had a mage's staff and was quite confident.
I said, "you're a witch."
Casamar said, "I am a mage."
The three of us ran to the stables where we each
borrowed a griffin. I named my griffin Blaze.
The three of us set off in the direction of the shortcut pass. The shortcut pass was the best way to get to the dark lord's castle and we needed to get there before the dark lord's minions did not destroy the world.
We flew on taking turns to rest on the warm mane of our griffins. About halfway to the shortcut pass we were all tired. We flew down onto a protected ledge and set up some tents. I tunneled into the weak clay and made myself a room to sleep in for the night. My room had shelves, a place to sleep in and a tunnel leading to another room to do my,Err
business.
We made ourselves at home and slept soundly that night.
I woke up at the first peek of dawn and looked out of my cave. I saw Alauner and Casamar nibbling on some scraps of pork. I told them I was awake and we zoomed off into the sky on Blaze Staed (pronounced Staad) and Lucko.
I started to see a faint scar on the landscape about halfway to the horizon. The shortcut pass. We sped up after seeing the shortcut pass. It was satisfying to see what we came for. I felt happy like I had just had my favourite food, pizza!
But then a purple flash of light caught my eye and we circled around a strange black marble altar and suddenly a person appeared in the middle but only for a second like a hologram. He appeared again, solid this time, he looked like the Dark Lord in the paintings so we flew away.
We rode the winds towards the shortcut pass, I could now make out the details of the shortcut pass now dried up rivers, black charred ground. Not the nicest way to travel.
Then I made out a huge pile of boulders blocking the pass. We decided to fly to the dark lord's lair. Instead of using the shortcut pass.
We soared under the clouds above us like giant pieces of black candy floss. We found a grove which was blackened and decided to make camp there. We dug ourselves our own burrows with just enough space for one of us to sleep in.
The night passed. We flew to the dark lord's castle. I could see it on the horizon. The black walls of obsidian in one sole piece of architecture, and as we got closer I could see scorpion banners and wolf banners, wait a minute, the wolf was the symbol of the kingdom we just came from. The wolf banners were lying on the ground old faded and ripped as if the dark lord felt that way about the kingdom.Which he probably did.
We landed just outside that horrifying black gate and I shouted, "Dark lord come forth and face us, we are no weaklings."
Twelve soldiers came out of the gate including the dark lord and behind him Maleith, the mayor, on a horse.
"Maleith" I shouted at him. "We looked all over for you in the town hall and you betray us."
No responce except a battle cry.
That was when the fight started. Casamar summoned a fireball and defeated three enemy soldiers. Alauner shot Maleith in the heart but Casamar got stabbed to death by the troops, I felt sorry for her but there was no time to mourn. Alauner shot the remaining troops but he ran out of arrows. The Dark Lord ran him through and it was one-to-one. the dark lord charged and pinned me to the ground and raised his sword.
I said calmly "If I die, you come with me."
We stabbed each other at the same time.
